My first release in the new year, and it’s a new version of Starscape theme. This is mainly a bug fixing release. I cleaned up some more CSS, improved CSS styles used for threaded comments available in WordPress 2.7. There are also few improvements in comments form, new page template with no sidebars and few more things.

Theme is available at WordPress.org themes extend direcotory, but version uploaded there has no Google Analytics module because of the WordPress.org rules. If you use that module, download theme from this blog.

I have reinstalled blog from scratch. Now blog uses latest WordPress 2.6.1. All plugins are reinstalled, all extra and unneeded files are removed. There are still some problems with Download page, and I will see in the next few days if Lester Chan can provide update to his Download Manager plugin. Widget with downloads is working, so you can use that.

And, new Starscape theme will be availalbe in the middle of the next week.

After few days of (mostly) testing the fixes in different browers (control panel problems), new version of Starscape is now available.

Detailed list of fixes, as always, is on the changelog page. Most important fixes are related to control panel problems in Internet Explorer (both 6 and 7), problems with author module and error in comments block while this module is active. Also, search results page is updated, along with few other things that got tweaked. One new thing is expansion of author module, and now it can show date and number of comments in the recent posts.

So, download this new version, and if you find any more bugs, feel free to drop me a mail, comment or post in the forum.

Next week, few more bugs will be fixed and the new version will be released, with few more new features: Starscape Scorpius 1.5.0.

New version of Starscape is available. And again, long changelog. This is most likelty the most important edition of Starscape so far. Mainly becasue I have planned for this to be last edition of Starscape theme, but I have decided to add some more things. So, the next edition will be called Scorpius, and it will be available in the next two or three weeks. Before that, you can expect one or two minor revisions of Draco.

I have also started working on Starscape 2, with first preview version hopefully ready for the end of september.

All over the internet you can find tutorials, help, samples on creating wordpress theme. Still, there are some topics that are not covered by many of them. I will try to focus on the solution of practical problems I had while creating Starscape theme.

This first part will cover following problems and solutions:

1. Using theme Wordpress options within CSS or JavaScript file
2. Adding Gravatar support to the theme
3. Separating trackback from comments
